Position Title: Academic Advisor - Professional and Graduate Studies Division
Reporting To: Dean of Advising and Student Success

Job Overview:
The Academic Advisor will serve as the contact person to his/her assigned students who attend classes online or on our New Haven campus. He/she will meet with students on a regular basis to develop and monitor educational plans and goals. He/she will also work closely with other advisors, admissions, the registrar, department chairs, and faculty to provide timely and accurate information on course/degree options.

Essential Functions:
  • Meet with new and returning students to develop and monitor educational plans and goals.
  • Conduct one-on-one orientations with new students to go over the college portal, e-learning, and review policies and procedures.
  • Provide students with information about resources to support them academically and personally.
  • Attend advising-related professional development opportunities as required.
  • Assist faculty advisors with questions and help process registration.
  • Monitor student attendance, Navigate alerts, and progress reports
  • Attend virtual new student orientations.
  • Serve as a liaison between the business, registrar, and financial aid offices.


Qualifications:

  • Two years of previous experience in academic advising preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


Education:

  • Master's Degree in higher education or related field preferred.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, identify priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.


Benefits:
Full-time employees are eligible to receive medical, dental, and vision benefits. Full-Time employees can earn between 18-23 paid time off a year. The employer covers tuition remission after 90 days of employment and covers 100 % (employees responsible for books and technology fees). The college is committed to work-life balance and has a summer schedule from June through August. We currently have 14 paid holidays, including a winter break. You will have the opportunity to participate in our retirement plan from day one, and after one year of employment, the college contributes depending on your service years.
