Golf Course Superintendent
Golf Course in Hedgesville, West Virginia is looking for a Golf Course Superintendent.

Position Overview:
Responsible for the maintenance, operation, and management of the grounds, ensuring an exceptional playing experience for members and guests. This leadership role focuses on overseeing the daily upkeep of the golf course, including turf management, landscaping, irrigation systems, and seasonal course preparations. The Superintendent will work closely with the management team to meet strategic goals, maintain a high standard of course aesthetics and playability, and ensure all maintenance activities align with environmental, safety, and operational best practices.

Key Responsibilities:
• Course Maintenance and Management: Oversee and manage the maintenance, conditioning, and aesthetic presentation of all golf course components, including greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, roughs, cart paths, bridges, dams, ponds, and practice facilities.
• Turf Management: Implement effective turf care practices, including mowing, aerating, seeding, fertilizing, and pest control to ensure healthy and playable turf conditions.
• Irrigation Systems: Maintain, repair, and manage irrigation systems, ensuring the efficient and sustainable use of water resources.
• Team Leadership: Hire, lead, train, and manage a team of groundskeepers and technicians. Assign daily tasks, conduct performance evaluations, and promote safety and teamwork.
• Budget and Inventory Management: Prepare and manage the department budget, track expenses, and maintain inventory of equipment, tools, and supplies.
• Environmental Compliance: Ensure all practices adhere to local and federal environmental regulations, including the safe handling and application of chemicals and fertilizers.
• Seasonal Course Preparation: Develop and execute plans for seasonal preparations, including overseeding, topdressing, and other activities to ensure optimal year-round playability.
• Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and repair of golf course equipment and machinery. Schedule regular servicing to ensure reliable operation.
• Facility Maintenance: Manage the care and maintenance of golf course facilities including maintenance buildings, pumping stations, cart sheds, and comfort stations.
• Customer Experience Focus: Collaborate with course management to maintain standards that enhance the golfer experience, from course layout and difficulty adjustments to aesthetic enhancements.
• Weather-Related Operations: Monitor weather patterns and make adjustments to maintenance activities to accommodate changing.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role preferred.
Certifications: GCSAA (Golf Course Superintendents Association of America) certification or similar certification preferred; pesticide applicator’s license required.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in turf management practices, irrigation systems, pest control, equipment maintenance, and landscape design.
Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience in staff training, scheduling, and performance management.
Budgeting and Financial Acumen: Ability to manage budgets, track costs, and conduct cost-effective purchasing.

Compensation:
$64,000 – $75,000 per year.
