Through hands-on, inquiry-based learning, the College of Natural Sciences provides an outlet for innovation and cross-disciplinary exposure. It also features pre-professional degrees in biology, alongside our degrees in microbiology, physics, and a forensic science and exercise science program.

This position is a part-time Teaching Assistant position.
Course: Sports Performance Science and Coaching
This course provides the knowledge necessary to enter the field of sports performance. The topics of movement preparation, plyometrics, acceleration, absolute speed, and multidirectional speed are introduced. Students also explore testing, movement skills, nutrition, mindset, motivation science, exercise techniques, and regeneration, as well as program planning for energy system development designed to improve strength, power, sprint, and speed. The course includes a focus on the science of coaching and professional demeanor to work within the fields of exercise science.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include equipping students with the required skill set, facilitating classroom discussions, assessing student performance and preparing students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession. Other main responsibilities include the following:

Assists instruction with in-class activities, including proctoring examinations.
Observes students’ performance, and records relevant data to aid instructor in assessing progress
Coordinates study groups outside of class to tutor students on class material
May facilitate additional ad hoc lectures as a refresher to classroom formal lecture
Assists with grading assignments
Proctors occasional make up examinations/assignments
Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
Qualifications:
Completed Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution on date of application submission.
Must have sufficient courses in an Exercise Science-related degree with a B or better grade
