Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Instrumentation and Controls Designer to join our dynamic team. This role is central to the successful delivery of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS) projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in control systems design and a passion for continuous improvement and collaboration. In addition to design responsibilities, the successful candidate may occasionally act as a Project Lead, Drafting Checker, or Coordinator as project needs require.

Job Description

• Develop and support the creation of Integrated Control & Safety System drawings in collaboration with system vendor designers.
• Prepare detailed instrumentation engineering deliverables, including: Instrument and fire/gas layout drawings, Instrument installation drawings, Cabinet and junction box termination diagrams, Cable routing drawings and cable lists, Material take-offs, Loop diagrams
  
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams through project development, design, and installation phases of CCS and CCUS initiatives.
  
• Review and contribute to technical proposals, ensuring accurate material, equipment, and delivery specifications.
  
• Share technical knowledge and best practices to foster a collaborative, innovative, and quality-focused work environment.
  
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement by integrating lessons learned and best practices into design processes.

Skills Required

• Certification in instrument control systems engineering or a related field.
• 5–10 years of experience designing control systems.
  
• Proficient in CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks; 3D modeling experience with Navisworks and familiarity with AVEVA is a plus.
  
• In-depth knowledge of industry codes and standards, including API, ANSI, IEEE, ISO, EN, ATEX, IEC, and others relevant to instrumentation and control systems.
  
• Understanding of Hazardous Area certification and field instrumentation installation requirements.
  
• Skilled in instrumentation cabling, cable tray layout, and related installation practices.
  
• Capable of working independently and applying sound engineering principles.
  
• High attention to detail in both design and documentation.
  
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  
• A proactive, self-motivated individual who thrives in a multicultural, multidisciplinary, and team-oriented environment.

Education

• Minimum of High School Diploma or GED

Pay Rate

• $40 per hour and higher depending on experience
