Job Description

Job Summary:

The Medical Scribe providers real-time documentation support to healthcare providers during patient encounters. This role involves accurately entering medical information in the electronic medical record (EMR), allowing providers to focus is on patient care. Scribes work alongside providers in a fast-pasted clinical setting. 

Essential Job Functions:

• Accurately and efficiently document patient encounters in the EMR, including history, physical exam findings, assessments, and plans.
• Transcribe verbal dictation and assist with chart preparation or follow-up documentation as needed.
• Record diagnostic test results, procedures, and consultations as directed by the provider.
• Ensure all documentation is completed promptly and accurately.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and facility policies.
• Support workflow efficiency by tracking pending orders or documentation tasks for the provider.
• Perform other duties as they are assigned.

Physical Requirements: 

• Work is of light demand. Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential to performing designated duties required. Optimal auditory acuity required. 
• Manual dexterity involving the handling of computers and other equipment is essential to performing assigned duties. Physical conditions are clean, neat and well-lit. 
• May be subjected to unpleasant sights and odors, stressful situations and hazardous or infectious agents where judgment as to precautions needed to be taken is essential. Climate control and ambient temperature variances may be experienced and required by patient care and needs of the surgical team. 
• Exposure to limited amounts of radiation, hazardous chemicals or substances and infectious disease processes are a possibility. Hours of duty may be irregular, require weekends/holidays or unexpectedly extended due to the requirements of the daily schedule.
