Job Description
Minimum qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
+ 5 years of experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts, mechanical assemblies, printed circuit boards, or flexes.
+ 5 years of experience using computer-aided design (CAD) tools such as 3D MCAD, NX, Creo, or Solidworks.
Preferred qualifications:
+ Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field.
+ 5 years of experience in design and analysis of electro-mechanical systems and products.
+ Experience using FEA (ANSYS or FloTHERM) for Mechanical (structural and thermal) analysis.
+ Experience with design and analysis for thermal engineering fundamentals with heat transfer and fluid dynamics.
+ Experience with GPU systems and liquid cooling thermal solutions.
Our Platforms Infrastructure Engineering team designs and builds the hardware and software technologies that power all of Google's services. Our computational challenges are complex and unique, enabled by custom hardware designed and made in-house. Our Mechanical Product Design Engineering Team members work cross-functionally to design, build, and deploy the latest technology to support the needs of compute, storage, networking, and machine learning hardware.
As a Senior Mechanical Product Design Engineer, you will design and evaluate our data center systems, identify product requirements, and contribute to research and project planning. From the chip to chiller, you will be responsible for designing and optimizing products within our architecture that will change and scale with Google's continued growth.
With your technical expertise, you lead and manage engineering design decisions, perform detailed design and analysis, develop product and process improvements, and collaborate with cross-functional team members to build innovative solutions.
The ML, Systems, & Cloud AI (MSCA) organization at Google designs, implements, and manages the hardware, software, machine learning, and systems infrastructure for all Google services (Search, YouTube, etc.) and Google Cloud. Our end users are Googlers, Cloud customers and the billions of people who use Google services around the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$216,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. + Own and design entire product design lifecycle - including requirements gathering, concept generation, detailed design with analysis, verification testing, cross-functional reviews, and manufacturing release.
+ Develop and execute designs for complex systems backed by thorough engineering analysis.
+ Create test plans, perform testing, and validate designs to meet engineering requirements. Troubleshoot, root cause, and resolve potential technical challenges.
+ Influence and shape future products by providing mechanical and product design engineering expertise into the technology roadmap with data-driven decisions. Identify and scope projects around innovation opportunities as well as technology risks.
+ Provide engineering knowledge and mentor team members in areas of expertise.
