We are seeking to fill the position of Senor Systems Administrator in the Research Services department within the Information Technology Services (ITS) organization (the central IT provider across the University of Iowa campus). This is an opportunity to work in a supportive, exciting, and mission-focused group dedicated to supporting research computing at the University of Iowa, a comprehensive Research 1 institution.
The successful candidate for this position will provide systems administration support for research data storage services offered by ITS Research Services. This position will include working in collaboration with others across campus in support of research computing initiatives. Examples of these initiatives are supporting high performance file systems for HPC applications, providing new ways for researchers to share data and collaborate across institutions, and working with OneIT stakeholders to deploy low-cost desktop-accessible storage.
The Senior Systems Administrator will provide service leadership across campus by working with research and IT stakeholders to identify, implement, and communicate the best shared or centrally hosted solutions while supporting and implementing services which enable and accelerate the research mission of the University of Iowa. A strong customer focus is required to be successful in the role and an ability to communicate to technical and non-technical audiences is a required skill.

ITS values work-life balance and strives to provide flexible work options where possible. This position is eligible for on-campus, hybrid, or remote work and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location. Work arrangement options will be discussed during the hiring process.
