Position Overview

We have an excellent opening within the Commercial Department for a National Commercial Underwriter. In this role, you'll partner with our Commercial Coordinators and operations team to provide expert underwriting support and help ensure smooth, accurate commercial transactions for clients nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

Provide Expert Support: Offer timely solutions to title underwriting and escrow issues that affect transactions, working closely with title, escrow, and sales staff.
Client Engagement & Business Development: Collaborate with the sales team to cultivate and develop new client relationships; participate in presentations on topics that impact the industry.
Review and Negotiate Documents: Assess Indemnity Agreements, Escrow Funding Agreements, and reinsurance placements; review transactional, organizational, and authority documents.
Collaborate on Transactions: Work with other offices to resolve legal or transactional issues, contributing to a smooth, client-centered experience.
Leverage Title Production Platforms: Utilize title production software to handle commitment construction, policy issuance, and endorsement revisions in a timely manner to meet customer deadlines.
Coordinate & Manage Workflows: Assign and prioritize tasks within the system workflow, ensuring high productivity for both individual and team efforts.
Survey Review & Objection Responses: Interpret surveys, draft responses to title objection letters, and review legal descriptions with accuracy.
Train and Support: Help train team members, sharing your knowledge to strengthen the team.
Support Agency Counsel: Provide general assistance in underwriting and coordinating single and multi-site national transactions.
Coordinate Closing Activities: Manage the coordination of pro forma and final policies for both pre- and post-closing, prepare settlement statements, and organize disbursement requests.
Required Skills & Experience

5+ Years of Experience: Proven background in commercial real estate title review and underwriting with a major national title insurer.
Analytical Strengths: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including knowledge of commercial title principles, relevant laws, and regulations.
Proficiency with Title Production Systems: Ability to adapt to and utilize modern title production technology.
Deadline-Oriented: Effective at managing multiple deadlines and maintaining confidence under pressure.
Excellent Communication & Organization Skills: Able to interact professionally with clients and team members, with attention to detail and organization.
Commitment to Excellence: Flexibility and willingness to meet the demands of commercial customers.
Preferred Qualifications

National commercial closing experience.
Familiarity with escrow instructions, co-insurance, reinsurance, and high-liability underwriting procedures.
