About AirGarage 🏙
AirGarage is repurposing the 30% of real estate in the average American city currently dedicated to parking.
We are building a future where real estate is digitized and can be transitioned from one use to another seamlessly on-demand, moving every piece of urban real estate toward its highest and best use.
We are starting with the $131 billion US parking real estate market because it is one of the most offline and mismanaged commercial real estate asset types.
As a full-stack parking operator, we automate the operation of parking lots and parking garages. We handle everything from advertising to collecting payments from drivers and enforcing against illegal parking. We already operate 250+ parking lots and parking garages across 35 US states and we are growing quickly.
We are backed by top tier investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Floodgate, Founders Fund, and angel investors who have founded or worked at companies like Uber, Opendoor, Flexport, and more.

THE ROLE 👨💻
We’re looking for an Android Engineer to join us in person in San Francisco and help build next-generation parking kiosks. The ideal candidate has deep experience with Android development, embedded systems, and hardware integration, and is excited about working on a real-world, high-impact problem.
This is a hands-on, in-person role where you will work closely with our engineering and hardware teams to develop robust, user-friendly kiosk software. The role involves working with Android tablets, adb, networking, and designing a seamless user experience.
WHAT YOU WILL DO 🚀
• Design, develop, and deploy Android applications for parking kiosks that interact with hardware components (touchscreen tablets, LTE SIM cards, payment terminals, etc.).
• Optimize performance and reliability for a stable, 24/7 kiosk experience.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate software.
• Debug and troubleshoot on-site in San Francisco, ensuring kiosks function seamlessly in real-world conditions.
• Implement best practices for secure transactions, data handling, and connectivity.
• Work closely with our product and design teams to refine the kiosk UI/UX for an intuitive user experience.
• Contribute to system architecture, infrastructure, and deployment strategies.
WHAT YOU NEED 🏗️
• In-person availability in San Francisco for the duration of the contract.
• 3+ years of Android development experience (Kotlin/Java).
• Experience with web frameworks like React or Svelte is a plus.
• Experience with embedded Android and CLI tools like adb.
• Strong understanding of networking, payment processing, and IoT device communication.
• Experience working with hardware teams, understanding device drivers, and debugging firmware/software interactions.
• Familiarity with security best practices, especially for payment and kiosk systems.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
This is a contract role for 2 weeks, on-site in San Francisco with the possibility to continue working with us. If you’re excited about working on a real-world engineering challenge and building physical products that impact cities, we’d love to hear from you!

We're looking for someone passionate, with grit and determination, who is excited to face the challenges of a rapidly growing startup. AirGarage is the type of company where you can grow exponentially, and we encourage you to apply to us even if you don't 100% match the candidate description.
