What you can expect to be doing:

Haley Ward is looking for an Environmental Compliance Specialist to be in our Bangor, Maine office. The successful candidate will help provide support and consultation to our municipal, commercial, industrial, and institutional clients with environmental regulatory compliance programs and environmental investigations. Assigned tasks will typically be associated with Air Emission Licenses, Hazardous Waste Management, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plans, as well as other requirements associated with the CAA, CWA, RCRA, EPCRA, and CERCLA regulatory programs. Other assigned tasks may include Stormwater program related compliance or Environmental Site Assessments.

  • Assisting clients in applying for and obtaining licenses and permits (air, waste, water)
  • Assisting in Regulatory research and the interpretation of rules to facilitate compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Preparing and submitting written environmental plans and reports for compliance with Federal and State regulatory programs
  • Submittal of data and reports through various regulatory web portals
  • Conducting on-site inspections and evaluations to assess and document field conditions.
  • On-site collection of field samples, maintain appropriate chain-of-custody, interpret analytical lab reports, and prepare reports based on data.

What you will need to succeed:

  • BS in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering or similar field. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong technical report writing skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with CAA, CWA, RCRA, SPCC Plans, CERCLA and contaminated property investigations preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a focus on client needs.
  • Strategic/critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to advance our client’s goals.
  • 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training preferred,
  • Microsoft Office skills including MS Word, Outlook, and advanced functions of Excel.
  • Must be able to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Valid driver's license & reliable transportation required.
