LUZCO Technologies is seeking an experienced Physical Substation Engineer to join our team on either a part-time or full-time basis. This role will focus on performing Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) reviews of physical substation design packages. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in substation physical layout, constructability, and utility standards, and is committed to upholding engineering excellence. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Review general arrangements, sections, conduit plans, grounding, and equipment layouts for accuracy and constructability.
  • Ensure compliance with utility standards, NESC/NEC codes, and Luzco’s internal QA/QC expectations. 
  • Provide detailed redlines, technical feedback, and mentorship to design teams. 
  • Assist in enhancing and maintaining QA/QC checklists and internal review procedures.
  • Collaborate with project leads and engineers to resolve design issues and ensure quality deliverables. 
Required Skills:
  • 10+ years of experience in substation physical design (greenfield and brownfield). 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and meet review deadlines with minimal oversight.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred. 
  • Solid understanding of utility substation layout, design standards, and industry best practices. 
  • Strong proficiency reviewing CAD-based deliverables (AutoCAD or MicroStation). 


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience performing QA/QC in a consulting engineering environment. 
  • Familiarity with Ameren or other Midwest utility standards. 
  • Willingness to attend occasional meetings during normal business hours. 
Work Arrangement: 
Flexible remote work is available, though preference will be given to candidates located near the St. Louis, MO office who may be able to attend occasional in-person meetings if needed.
