Summary Teacher Assistant – One- & Two-Year-Old Classrooms
Location: C.A.R.E. Academy, Charleston, SC
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM

Position Overview
We are seeking a
Teacher Assistant to support our one-year-old and two-year-old classrooms. The Teacher Assistant will work closely with the Lead Teacher to create a warm, safe, and engaging learning environment while ensuring the daily care needs of each child are met. This role requires patience, energy, and a genuine love for young children.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily routines and developmentally appropriate activities.
- Provide direct care, including feeding, diapering/toileting, and nap time supervision.
- Support children in developing social, emotional, and self-help skills through positive interactions.
- Help prepare classroom materials and maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment.
- Monitor children at all times to ensure safety and well-being.
- Foster a nurturing environment that encourages exploration, independence, and growth.
- Communicate positively and professionally with children, staff, and families.
- Assist in maintaining classroom records in compliance with DSS and ABC Quality standards.
- Support transitions, including arrival, dismissal, outdoor play, and classroom changes.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; some coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred.
- Previous experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children strongly preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and remain active throughout the day.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
